Ժամը 22:50-ի սահմաններում, Երևանի բնակիչ, 24-ամյա Սիմոն Մարտիրոսյանը, իր վարած Mercedes CLՏ 550 մակնիշի 01 MՏ 333 համարանիշի ավտոմեքենայով, Արշակունյաց պողոտայում, «Երևան մոլի» դիմաց, վրաերթի է ենթարկել փողոցը չթույլատրելի հատվածով անցնող տղամարդ հետիոտնի: Ինչպես դեպքի վայրից հայտնում է ֆոտոլրագրող Գագիկ Շամշյանը, վարորդը փախուստի չի դիմել, զանգահարել է շտապօգնություն, օգնել է վրաերթի ենթարկվածին բժիշկների հետ տեղափոխել հիվանդանոց, սակայն վրաերթի ենթարկվածը ճանապարհին՝ գիտակցության չգալով, մահացել է: Դեպքի վայր են ժամանել Ճանապարհային ոստիկանության 1-ին սպայական գումարտակի 2-րդ դասակի տեսուչներ Գրիգոր Գրիգորյանն ու Սամսոն Սահակյանը: Դեպքի վայր են ժամանել նաև Երևանի Ճանապարհային ոստիկանության պետ Խաչիկ Սամվելյանն ու Երևանի ՃՈ պետի տեղակալ Անդրանիկ Իսախանյանը: Վարորդը ՃՈ 1-ին սպայական գումարտակի 7-րդ դասակի տեսուչ Դավիթ Ավալյանի կողմից ենթարկվեց սթափության փորձաքննության, պարզվեց, որ վարորդը եղելէ սթափ: Շտապօգնություն զանգահարելուց հետո վարորդը զանգահարել է նաև ՃՈ օպերատիվ կառավարման կենտրոն: Դեպքի մասին Երևանի ՃՈ օպերատիվ կառավարման կենտրոնի պատասխանատու հերթապահ Արսեն Կարապետյանը տեղեկությունը փոխանցել է Հայաստանի քննչական կոմիտեի Երևան քաղաքի քննչական վարչության ճանապարհատրանսպորտային հանցագործությունների քննության բաժին, որտեղից ժամանել է քննչական խումբը՝ բաժնի պետ Արտաշես Վանյանի, բաժնի պետի տեղակալ Սամվել Սամվելյանի և հատկապես կարևոր գործերով ավագ քննիչ Նարեկ Ստեփանյանի գլխավորությամբ: Փաստի առթիվ Ն. Ստեփանյանի որոշմամբ ՀՀ քր-օր-ի 242 հոդվածի 2-րդ մասի հատկանիշներով հարուցվել է քրեական գործ: Քննիչի հանձնարարականով ավտոմեքենան տեղափոխվում է Երևանի ՃՈ պահպանվող հատուկ տարածք: Ոստիկանությունն ու քննչական բաժին պարզում են մահացածի ինքնությունը: Գ. Շամշյանի տեղեկություններով, վարորդը ծանրամարտի աշխարհի չեմպիոն, Օլիմպիական խաղերի փոխչեմպիոն Սիմոն Մարտիրոսյանն է, որն այսօր էր ծանրամարտի Հայաստանի հավաքականի հետ վերադարձել Երևան՝ Մոսկվայում ավարտված Եվրոպայի առաջնությունից հետո: Լուսանկարները և տեսանյութը՝ Գագիկ Շամշյանի Ծանուցում. Ենթադրյալ հանցանքի մեջ կասկածվողը կամ մեղադրվողը համարվում է անմեղ, քանի դեռ նրա մեղավորությունն ապացուցված չէ ՀՀ քրեական դատավարության օրենսգրքով սահմանված կարգով` դատարանի` օրինական ուժի մեջ մտած դատավճռով:
