ՅՈՒՆԵՍԿՕ-ն՝ Միավորված ազգերի կրթական, գիտական և մշակութային կազմակերպությունը հայտնել է, որ Կորալյան ծովում գտնվող Մեծ արգելախութը պետք է ներառվի այն համաշխարհային ժառանգության օբյեկտների ցանկում, որոնք «վտանգի տակ են»՝ կլիմայի փոփոխության պատճառած վնասների հետևանքով, հայտնում է BBC լրատվականը։

ՄԱԿ-ի մշակութային մարմինը նշել է, որ Մեծ արգելախութին վերաբերող հարցերը պետք է ընդգրկվեն հաջորդ ամիս կայանալիք հանդիպման օրակարգում, և Ավստրալիային հորդորել է գլոբալ տաքացման դեմ պայքարում «արագացված գործողություններ» ձեռնարկել, ինչին ի պատասխան Ավստրալիայի կառավարությունն ասել է, որ կտրականապես դեմ կլինի առաջարկությանը։

Հայտնի է, որ վառելիքի հանածոների շուրջ վեճը ՅՈՒՆԵՍԿՕ-ի և պաշտոնական Կանբերրայի միջև առկա է 2017 թվականից։ Գիտականները նշել են, որ վնասները տեղի են ունեցել վառելիքի այրման պատճառով ջրի տաքացման հետևանքով։

ՄԱԿ-ի կոչերին ի պատասխան ավստրալական կողմը նշել է, որ աշխարհում 83 բնական համաշխարհային ժառանգություն բախվում է կլիմայի փոփոխության սպառնալիքներին, ուստի արդար չէ Ավստրալիան առանձնացնելը։

Մեծ արգելախութը վտանգի տակ գտնվող համաշխարհային ժառանգության օբյեկտների ցանկում ներառելը կարող է նպաստել հարցի լուծմանն ուղղված գումարների հատկացմանը, սակայն միևնույն ժամանակ կարող է վնաս հասցնել զբոսաշրջության ոլորտին, որն Ավստրալիայում հազարավոր աշխատատեղեր է ստեղծում:

Ներկայում ՅՈՒՆԵՍԿՕ-ում նախագահում է Չինաստանը, և տեղեկություններ կան այն մասին, որ Պեկինի և Կանբերրայի միջև երկարատև լարվածությունը կարող է ազդել որոշման վրա:

Մեծ արգելախութը կորալյան խութերի և կղզիների խումբ է Կորալյան ծովում` Քվինսլենդի ափերի մոտ (Ավստրալիա)։ Կորալյան խութերի` աշխարհում ամենամեծ համակարգն է` բաղկացած 2.900 առանձին խութերից և 900 կղզիներից։ Ձգվում է Ավստրալիայի հյուսիսարևելյան ափի երկայնքով շուրջ 2300 կմ (1.400 մղոն)։

Վերջին շրջանում կորալների գունաթափումն ավելի տարածված է, քան կարծում էին նախկինում։ Դա լավագույնս երևում է արգելախութի հյուսիսային մասում։ Այդ երևույթը պայմանավորված է կլիմայի փոփոխությամբ, օվկիանոսի ջրերի տաքացմամբ։
