ԱՄՆ Զինված ուժերի շտաբների պետերի միացյալ կոմիտեի նախագահը զգուշացրել է, որ ժամանակակից աշխարհում մեծ տերությունների միջև զգալի միջազգային կոնֆլիկտի հավանականությունը մեծանում է, ոչ թե նվազում.

«Ես կարծում եմ, որ ռուս-ուկրաինական հակամարտությունը չափվելու է տարիներով։ Չգիտեմ՝ կարելի՞ է խոսել մեկ տասնամյակի մասին, բայց մի քանի տարվա մասին կարելի է խոսել, դա հաստատ է: Կարծում եմ, որ ԱՄՆ-ն, ՆԱՏՕ-ն, Ուկրաինան և բոլոր դաշնակիցներն ու գործընկերները երկար ժամանակ ներքաշված կլինեն դրանում»,- ասել է գեներալ Մարկ Միլին:

«Չեմ կարծում, թե ԱՄՆ-ն և ՆԱՏՕ-ն կներքաշվեն գործողությունների մեջ՝ առաջին հերթին այն պատճառով, որ հակառակ կողմից նման ներուժ չկա, իհարկե, հաշվի առնելով նաև միջուկային զենքի հանգամանքը: Բայց չեմ կարծում, թե միջուկային զենքը կիրառելու, նույնիսկ դրա ուղղակի սպառնալիքի կհասնի գործը: Ավելի շուտ կհամաձայնեմ այն դրույթի հետ, որ հնարավոր է՝ իրավիճակը բավականին երկար տևի, բայց այդ երկար իրավիճակը կսահմանափակվի Ռուսաստանի և Ուկրաինայի փոխեփոխ ժամանակավոր հաջողություններով, ոչ թե կներքաշվեն այլ կողմեր: Իսկ այն, որ ռուս-ուկրաինական հակամարտությունն անվտանգային լուրջ սպառնալիք է ամբողջ Եվրոպայի և աշխարհի համար, ակնհայտ է»:

Անդրադառնալով հակամարտությունը երկար շարունակվելու դեպքում մեր տարածաշրջանում անվտանգային խնդիրներին, քաղաքագետը նշեց.

«Իրականում, ռուս-ուկրաինական հակամարտությունն ուղղակի առիթ է մեր սահմաններին սադրանքների համար, չլինի այս հակամարտությունը, կլինեն այլ առիթներ, որովհետև Ադրբեջանը Թուրքիայի աջակցությամբ և շատ դեպքերում Ռուսաստանի հետ համաձայնեցնելով՝ շարունակում է ճնշում գործադրել Հայաստանի վրա և օգտագործում է ցանկացած առիթ: Իհարկե, ռուս-ուկրաինական հակամարտությունը հրաշալի առիթ է, այդպիսի առիթ կլինի Ռուսաստանի թուլացումը, հակառակը, Ռուսաստանի ամբողջական հաջողությունը կլինի այդպիսի առիթ՝ մեկ այլ կերպ աշխատելու: Մենք պարզապես պետք է կարողանանք մեր աշխատանքները տանել և հասկանալ, թե տարբեր առիթների դեպքում առաջ եկող մարտահրավերներին ինչպես կարելի է դիմակայել»:
