ՅՈՒՆԵՍԿՕ-ն մարդկության ոչ նյութական մշակու­թային ժառանգության ներկայացուցչական ցանկում ներառել է Ադրբեջանի և Թուրքիայի ազգային փողային նվագարանը, որը կոչվում է բալաբան կամ մեյ։

Թուրք-ադրբեջանական համատեղ հայտը ՅՈՒՆԵՍԿՕ-ն դեռևս 2020թ.-ից էր ստացել, սակայն գրանցման հարցի քննարկումը սառեցրել էր և միայն 2023թ.-ին է այն ընդգրկել ցանկում։

Նշենք, որ  Ադրբեջանում բալաբանը նաև դուդուկ (դյուդյուկ) անունով են կոչում ու երբեմն հայկական դուդուկը նույնացնում են բալաբանի հետ։ Թեև մասնագետները նշում են, որ ադրբեջանական բալաբանը դուդուկի նման հնչողություն չունի, բայց տեսքով նրանք շատ նման են։ Ի տարբերություն հայկական ծիրանափողի՝ բալաբանը միշտ չէ, որ պատրաստվում է ծիրանենու փայտից։ Հիմնականում թթենու պայտից է, ավելի հազվադեպ՝ ծիրանենու, նաև ընկույզի փայտից։

Նշենք, որ բալաբանը ներկայացվում է որպես ադրբեջանական և իրանական փողային երաժշտական ​​գործիք՝ ինչպես դուդուկը կրկնակի եղեգնյա փողով։

Հիշեցնենք, որ ՅՈՒՆԵՍԿՕ-ն դեռևս 2005 թվականին էր հայկական դուդուկն ու նրա երաժշտությունը հռչակել մարդկության ոչ նյութական ժառանգության գլուխգործոց, իսկ 2008 թվականին այն ավելացրել ցանկում։

Սոցցանցերում հայ օգտատերերը ՅՈՒՆԵՍԿՕ-ի այս որոշումը որակում են  որպես երկակի ստանդարտներ կիրառելու հերթական քայլ։
