ԱՄՆ Սենատի արտաքին հարաբերությունների հանձնաժողովի անդամ Ռենդ Փոլը դատապարտել է Թուրքիայի և Ադրբեջանի կողմից F-16-ների օգտագործումը 2020 թվականին Հայաստանի և Լեռնային Ղարաբաղի  դեմ հարձակումներում: Այս մասին հայտնում են ԱՄՆ Հայ դատի հանձնախմբից:

Սենատորը կոչ է արել ընդունել բանաձևը՝ Թուրքիայի կառավարությանը F-16-ների և պաշտպանական այլ ապրանքների վաճառքի համար Կոնգրեսի անհամաձայնության վերաբերյալ:

Թուրքիային F-16-ի վաճառքը արգելափակելու բազմաթիվ պատճառների թվում Փոլը հիշեցրել է Հայաստանի պաշտպանության նախարարությունը պնդումը, որ 2020 թվականի սեպտեմբերի 29-ին թուրքական F-16-ը Հայաստանի օդային տարածքում խոցել է հայկական ՍՈՒ-25 ինքնաթիռ։ «Թուրքիան սերտորեն կանգնած է եղել իր դաշնակից Ադրբեջանի կողքին՝ տարածաշրջանն իրեն հպատակեցնելու իր ջանքերում՝ տրամադրելով մարտական անօդաչու թռչող սարքեր, ռազմական տեխնիկա, ուսուցում և, եթե հավատալու լինենք Հայաստանի կառավարությանը, ուղղակի մարտական աջակցություն։ Ուրեմն մեր ինքնաթիռները՝ F-16-երը, որ տալիս ենք թուրքերին, փաստացի օգտագործվում են Հայաստանի հետ մեկ այլ պատերազմում»,-ասել է սենատորը:

Նա շեշտել է, որ 2020-ի պատերազմում և 2023-ին Ադրբեջանի հետագա ռազմական գործողությունների հետևանքով զոհվել են հազարավոր մարդիկ,  ստեղծվել է հումանիտար աղետ՝ ստիպելով ավելի քան 100 հազար մարդու տեղահանվել:

Սենատոր Փոլի բանաձևը ստացել է երկկուսակցական աջակցություն սենատորներից: Բանաձևը, սակայն, ընդունվելու համար բավարար ձայներ չի ստացել:
