ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղար Մարկո Ռուբիոն ասել է, որ Բրյուսելում ՆԱՏՕ-ի ԱԳ նախարարների հանդիպման ժամանակ մտադիր է պահանջել դաշինքի յուրաքանչյուր անդամ երկրից պարտավորվել ռազմական ծախսերը հասցնել ՀՆԱ-ի 5%-ի, դա կվերաբերի նաև ԱՄՆ-ին։ Այս մասին գրում է ՏԱՍՍ-ը:

«Միացյալ Նահանգները կցանկանար այս հանդիպումից հեռանալ այն գիտակցմամբ, որ ՆԱՏՕ-ի յուրաքանչյուր անդամ, ներառյալ Միացյալ Նահանգները, պարտավորվել է ավելացնել ծախսերը մինչև ՀՆԱ-ի 5%-ը», - լրագրողներին ասել է Ռուբիոն: «Ոչ ոք չի ակնկալում, որ դա կարվի 1-2 տարում: Բայց պետք է արդեն նախանշել ծրագիր: Սա դաժան ճշմարտություն է, բայց այն պետք է ընդունել: ՆԱՏՕ-ի յուրաքանչյուր անդամ պետք է կարողանա պաշտպանել դաշինքի տարածքը և զսպել ցանկացած սպառնալիք»,- հավելել է Ռուբիոն:

Ըստ ԱՄՆ պետքարտուղարի՝ «վերջին տարիների իրադարձությունները՝ լայնածավալ պատերազմը Եվրոպայի սրտում, ցույց են տալիս, որ ռազմական կարողությունների ամրապնդումն անհրաժեշտ է զսպման նպատակներով», ՆԱՏՕ-ի յուրաքանչյուր երկիր «պետք է կարողանա դիմակայել այդ սպառնալիքներին»։ «Նախագահ Թրամփը նման կոչ է արել ինչպես իր առաջին նախագահական ժամկետում, այնպես էլ հիմա: Նա դեմ չէ ՆԱՏՕ-ին: Նա դեմ է ՆԱՏՕ-ին, որը չի կարող կատարել իր պարտականությունները», - եզրափակել է Ռուբիոն:

Ավելի վաղ Թրամփը հայտարարել էր, որ Եվրոպան պետք է կրի պատասխանատվության բեռը՝ իր անվտանգությունն ապահովելու համար։ Հինգշաբթի Բրյուսելում կկայանա ՆԱՏՕ-ի արտգործնախարարների հանդիպումը։ Հյուսիսատլանտյան խորհրդի նիստը Ռուբիոյի համար կլինի առաջինը: ՆԱՏՕ-ի գլխավոր քարտուղար Մարկ Ռյուտեն ապրիլի 2-ին հայտարարել է, որ պաշտպանության ծախսերը պետք է կազմեն «ՀՆԱ-ի 3%-ից շատ ավելին», մինչդեռ ներկայիս թիրախը 2%-ն է, սակայն դաշինքի երկրների մեկ երրորդը դեռ չի հասել նույնիսկ այս մակարդակին: Համաշխարհային բանկի տվյալներով՝ 2023 թվականին ԱՄՆ ռազմական ծախսերը կազմել են ՀՆԱ-ի 3,4%-ը։
