Դեռևս ապրիլի 16-ին՝ Ապրիլյան քննիչ հանձնաժողով այցի ժամանակ ՀՀ երրորդ նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը հայտարարել էր, որ առաջիկայում մեծ ասուլիս է կազմակերպելու և պատասխանի Ապրիլյան քառօրյայի հետ կապված լրագրողական հանրույթին հուզող, ինչու չէ նաև հետաքրքրող հարցերին։ Նախօրեին կայացավ Սերժ Սարգսյանի խոստացված ասուլիսը, որը տևեց երեք ժամ, ասուլիսի ընթացքում երրորդ նախագահը պատասխանեց մոտ երեք տասնյակ հարցերի։ Նախագահ Սարգսյանն իր խոսքի ընթացքում պահեց Քննիչ հանձնաժողովին տված խոստումը և ոչ մի կերպ չխոսեց հանձնաժողովում տեղի ունեցած քննարկման մասին, ոչ մի ակնարակով չհակադարձեց հանձնաժողովի նախագահի ու հանձնաժողովի տարբեր անդամների կողմից տարբեր առիթներով արված բազմաթիվ մեկնաբանություններին։ Չնայած լրագրողները քանիցս փորձեցին տարբեր մանիպուլյատիվ հնարքներով և հարցապնդումների միջոցով սադրել երրորդ նախագահին, սակայն նա կարողացավ պահել կոռեկտությունն ու սոլիդիությունը։ Ակնհայտ էր զսպվածությունն ու հավասարակշռությունը գործող իշխանությունների նկատմամբ։ Ողջ ասուլիսի ընթացքում ոչ մի առումով Սերժ Սարգսյանը չանդրադարձավ օրվա իշխանությունների գործողություններին և գրեթե չհնչեցրեց գնահատականներ տեղի ուենցած զարգացումների վերաբերյալ։ Տեղի ունեցած ասուլիսից հերթական անգամ պարզ դարձավ, որ գործ ունենք ինստիտուցիոնալ գործչի հետ, ով կարողանում է հստակ ու բովանդակային պատասխանել լրագրողի կողմից հնչած ամենամանիպուլյատիվ ու հստակ ուղղորդված հարցին։ Սարգսյանն իր պատասխաններում բավական հանգիստ էր ու անհողդողդ, բացարձակապես բացակայում էր ջղագրգռությունը, ինչպես նաև ձայնային տեմբրի տատանումը: Սա փաստում է այն մասին, որ նա գտնվում էր մի տիրույթում, որտեղ իր համար խոցելի կողմեր չկային։ Հատկանշական է նշել, որ տևական ժամանակ հանրային լայն հարթակում անմիջական շփում չունեցած և մոտ երկու տարի եթերում չերևալը դրական ազդեցություն էր ունեցել նախագահ Սարգսյանի վրա։ Հավանաբար այս հանգամանքին նպաստել էր նաև այն փաստը, որ չլինելով երկրի նախագահ և կաշկանդված չլինելով որևէ հարցում նա ավելի ազատ էր և դա իրապես նկատելի էր լրագրողների հետ անմիջական, հաճախ անգամ կատակային շփումներում, նաև բավականին մեղմ ինտոնացիայով անգամ ամենասադրող հարցերին պատասխանելու ժամանակ։ Ըստ էության՝ Սարգսյանը որոշ թեմաների հետ կապված մի քանի փակագծեր բացեց և հստակ ակնարկեց, որ իր կառավարման տարիներն շատ ավելի լավ դիրքային առաջխաղացումներ ու բարելավումներ են եղել, սակայն դրանք չեն դարձել դրոշակ և հորդորեց այս առումով մի քիչ զսպվածություն ցուցաբերել։ Հատկապես հետաքրքիր ու որոշ չափով նաև զգացմունքային էր գեներալ Յուրի Խաչատուրովի՝ հանձնաժողով չներկայանալու վերաբերյալ արված դիտարկումերը, երբ Սարգսյանը նշեց, որ Խաչատուրովը հանձնաժողով չներկայանալու իր արդարացված պատճառներն ուներ և կարող էր իրեն չլսել, քանի որ ինքն այլևս գերագույն գլխավոր հրամանատար չէր, այլ պաշտոնաթող նախագահ։ Բացահայտումների շարքից էր նաև ԱԹՍ-երի վերաբերյալ և ընդհանուր անվտագության գոտու հետ առնչվող պնդումները, որտեղ նախագահ Սարգսյանը նշեց, որ Ստեփանակաերտի ուղղությամբ որևէ անօդաչու սարք չի բարձրացել, իսկ մնացած միֆականացված և շրջանառված լուրերն ընդամենը քաղաքական շահարկումների ենթատեքստեր ունեն։
