Հռոմի Լևոն 14–րդ պապը հայտարարել է, որ կշարունակի Ֆրանցիսկոս պապի տեսլականն ու բարեփոխումները:

«Արմենպրես»-ի փոխանցմամբ՝ այս մասին հայտնում է Reuters–ը:  

Լևոն 14–րդ պապը կարդինալներին ասել է, որ Հռոմի Ֆրանցիսկոս պապը թողել է «արժեքավոր ժառանգություն», որը պետք է շարունակվի։ 

Բոլոր կարդինալների հետ իր առաջին հանդիպմանը նա խնդրել է ավագ հոգևորականներին հաստատել իրենց հանձնառությունը 1960-ականներին Վատիկանի երկրորդ ժողովի կողմից ընդունված եկեղեցական խոշոր բարեփոխումներին։

Լևոն 14–րդ պապը նշել է, որ ընդհանուր առմամբ Ֆրանցիսկոս պապը, որը տեսլական ուներ՝ 1.4 մլրդ անդամ ունեցող եկեղեցին բացել դեպի ժամանակակից աշխարհը, թողել է ծառայությանը լիակատար նվիրվածության օրինակ:  

«Եկեք ստանձնենք այս արժեքավոր ժառանգությունը և շարունակենք մեր ճանապարհորդությունը», - ասել է նորընտիր պապը կարդինալներին։ 

Կարդինալների կոնկլավը Հռոմի 267–րդ պապին ընտրեց մայիսի 8–ին:  Լևոն 14–րդ պապը փոխարինում է Ֆրանցիսկոս պապին: Հռոմի Ֆրանցիսկոս պապը մահացել էր սրտի կաթվածից, ապրիլի 21-ի վաղ առավոտյան Վատիկանի Սանտա Մարտայի իր կեցավայրում: 88–ամյա Ֆրանցիսկոս պապին հուղարկավորել են ապրիլի 26–ին:
