Մեքսիկական «Միացյալ կարտելներ»-ի (United Cartels) դեմ հետաքննությունը սկսվել է 2019 թվականին Թենեսի նահանգում, երբ երկու թմրավաճառ, ավտովթարի ենթարկելով, թողել են մետամֆետամինով լի ճամպրուկը, հաղորդում է CBS News-ը։

Այս դեպքը դարձավ լայնածավալ հետաքննության մեկնարկային կետ, որի ընթացքում ԱՄՆ ոստիկանությունը գաղտնալսել է զանգեր, իրականացրել խուզարկություններ և կապ հաստատել միջադեպի և միջազգային հանցավոր ցանցի գործունեության միջև։ Ձերբակալություններից մեկի ժամանակ կասկածյալը կրակ է բացել սպաների ուղղությամբ՝ վիրավորելով նրանցից մեկին. նրա պայուսակում հայտնաբերվել է մետամֆետամին և հերոին։ Հետագայում իրավապահները հայտնաբերել են Մեքսիկայից ժամանած կցասայլ, որի հատակի տակ թաքցված է եղել 850 կիլոգրամ մետամֆետամին, ինչպես նաև թմրանյութեր՝ ավտոբուսում և կարտելի հետ կապված տարածքում։

«Միացյալ կարտելները» գործում են Մեքսիկայի Միչոական նահանգում և բաղկացած են մի քանի թմրախմբավորումներից, այդ թվում՝ Los Viagras-ը։ Նրանք մասնագիտացած են մետամֆետամինի, ֆենտանիլի և կոկաինի արտադրության մեջ՝ դրանք սահմանով տեղափոխելով ԱՄՆ տասնյակ քաղաքներ՝ Ատլանտայից և Դալասից մինչև Չիկագո և Լոս Անջելես։ 2025 թվականի փետրվարին ԱՄՆ կառավարությունը պաշտոնապես ճանաչեց «Միացյալ կարտելները» որպես օտարերկրյա ահաբեկչական կազմակերպություն։

ԱՄՆ արդարադատության նախարարությունը մեղադրանք է առաջադրել հինգ առանցքային անձանց՝ ենթադրյալ առաջնորդ Խուան Խոսե Ֆարիաս Ալվարեսին, որը հայտնի է որպես «Էլ Աբուելո» («Պապիկ»), ինչպես նաև Ալֆոնսո Ֆերնանդես Մագալյոնին («Պոնչո»), Նիկոլաս Սիերա Սանտանային («Էլ Գորդո»), Էդգար Օրոսկո Կաբադասին («Էլ Կամոնի») և Լուիս Էնրիկե Բարագան Չավեսին («Ուիչո»)։ Նրանց բռնելու համար տեղեկատվության դիմաց ԱՄՆ-ն առաջարկում է մինչև 26 միլիոն դոլար. 10 միլիոն՝ Ֆարիաս Ալվարեսի, 5-ական միլիոն՝ Պոնչոյի և Էլ Գորդոյի, և 3-ական միլիոն՝ Կամոնիի և Ուիչոյի համար։

Միևնույն ժամանակ, ԱՄՆ ֆինանսների նախարարությունը պատժամիջոցներ է սահմանել «Միացյալ կարտելների», Los Viagras-ի և նրանց հետ կապված յոթ անձանց դեմ՝ սառեցնելով նրանց ակտիվները և արգելելով նրանց հետ ցանկացած գործարք։ Մեքսիկան ակտիվորեն համագործակցում է Վաշինգտոնի հետ. միայն այս տարի նա ԱՄՆ-ին է արտահանձնել թմրակարտելների հետ կապերի մեջ կասկածվող ավելի քան 50 անձի։
