Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնում, Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսի նախագահությամբ, սկսվել է Գերագույն հոգևոր խորհրդի հերթական ժողովը։ Մայր Աթոռի տարածած հաղորդագրության համաձայն՝ ժողովի օրակարգում ընդգրկված են «հայրենական կյանքի մարտահրավերներին, հակաեկեղեցական արշավին, ապօրինաբար ազատազրկված եկեղեցականների և հայորդիների նկատմամբ ընթացող իրավական գործընթացներին ու նրանց իրավունքների պաշտպանությանը, Ադրբեջանում ապօրինաբար պահվող գերիների» և այլ թեմաներին առնչվող հարցեր։

Իշխանական ԶԼՄ-ները ավելի վաղ տեղեկություններ էին տարածել, թե Գերագույն հոգևոր խորհրդի ժողովի ժամանակ սպասվում է Գարեգին Բ-ի պաշտոնանկության մասին հայտարարությունը։ Մինչդեռ եկեղեցու վճռականությունը նշված է տարածված հաղորդագրության մեջ։ Իսկ նշված կետերը վկայում են, որ Ամենայն Հայոց Կաթողիկոսը ոչ միայն մտադիր չէ ընկրկել փաշինյանական իշխանության ճնշումների առաջ, այլև բավականին լրջորեն շարունակում է պայքարը։ Ընդ որում, հիշեցնենք, որ նախօրեին դատարանը մեկամսյա կալանք էր նշանակել կաթողիկոսի եղբոր և եղբորորդու համար։

Այս իրավիճակում հարց է ծագում՝ ինչու Փաշինյանը չի սկսում Վեհարանի գրոհը։ Բանն այն է, որ ռեպուտացիոն առումով Փաշինյանի համար նվազագույն կորուստներ կարող են գրանցվել միայն այն դեպքում, երբ կաթողիկոսին պարտադրեն պաշտոնանկություն։ Նույնիսկ եթե իշխանությունները հանդգնեն կալանավորել Գարեգին Բ-ին, այդ դեպքում որևէ կերպ չեն կարողանա իրավիճակը բեկել իրենց օգտին, քանի որ Վեհարանը կդառնա կալանավայր, որտեղ գտնվում է կաթողիկոսը։ Ուստի փաշինյանական իշխանությունը փորձելու է ոչ թե ուժային մեթոդներով ճնշել հոգևորականներին, այլ պարտադրել կաթողիկոսին հրաժարական ներկայացնել, և դրան են ուղղված գործող իշխանությունների բոլոր ջանքերը։ Սակայն եկեղեցու վճռականությունը, ինչպես նաև Գարեգին Բ-ի արժանապատիվ ու հանդարտ կեցվածքը, ավելի ու ավելի են հունից հանում Նիկոլ Փաշինյանին և նրա թիմակիցներին, որոնք էլ արդեն Գերագույն հոգևոր խորհրդի ժողովից հետո նոր թափով են հարձակվելու Հայ առաքելական եկեղեցու վրա։
