Որքան երկար շարունակվի Ռուսաստանի պատերազմը Ուկրաինայի դեմ, այնքան ավելի թանկ կնստի այն Մոսկվայի համար, հայտարարել է Եվրահանձնաժողովի նախագահ Ուրսուլա ֆոն դեր Լեյենը Լոնդոնում «կամավորների կոալիցիայի» և Ուկրաինայի նախագահ Վլադիմիր Զելենսկու միջև հանդիպումից հետո։

«Ուկրաինան արդեն ներառված է ԵՄ երկրների կողմից ներկայացված 19 «SAFE» ծրագրերից 15-ում։ Խոսքը միայն փողի մասին չէ. Ուկրաինան ծանր դասեր է քաղում մարտադաշտում, և մենք էլ ենք սովորում դրա հետ մեկտեղ։ Մեր պաշտպանական արդյունաբերական բազաները ինտեգրելով՝ մենք ստեղծում ենք ուժեղ զսպող գործոն՝ այսօրվա և վաղվա համար», - նշել է նա։

«Մենք բոլորս հասկանում ենք, թե ինչ է դրված բախտախաղի վրա և գիտենք, որ այլևս չի կարելի հապաղել։ Ֆինանսական աջակցության տրամադրումը կօգնի ապահովել Ուկրաինայի դիմադրողականությունը և կազմում է Եվրոպայի պաշտպանության էական մասը», - ասվում է հայտարարության մեջ։

Ըստ Եվրահանձնաժողովի ղեկավարի՝ նա «կամավորների կոալիցիայի» հանդիպման մասնակիցներին ներկայացրել է երկու հիմնական գործողություն՝ Ուկրաինային աջակցելը և Եվրոպայի պաշտպանական պատրաստվածության բարձրացումը։

«Եվրոպան և նրա դաշնակիցներն ունեն միջոցներ և վճռականություն՝ Ռուսաստանի վրա ճնշումը մեծացնելու համար, որպեսզի այն նստի բանակցությունների սեղանի շուրջ», - ասել է ֆոն դեր Լեյենը։
